Detailed Tour Itinerary:

Day 00:  DELHI – MANALI: BY VOLVO( AN OVERNIGHT JOURNEY )

HIMALAYAN HOLIDAYS welcomes you to your tour for Manali Leh. In evening around 4:30 pm board your volvo from Delhi to Manali.

By next morning you will reach Manali.

 

Day 01: MANALI  ACCLIMATIZATION  DAY

This morning you will reach Manali. Meet our representative and transfer to hotel.

By afternoon take your bikes and riding gear, visit Hadimba Temple and take blessing from Maa Hadimba, main deity of Manali Town after than visit  Mall Road, Tibetan Monastery, Van Vihar, and “Vashisht “well known for its hot springs. There are old Temples dedicated to the sage Vashisth and to Lord Rama.

 

Overnight stay at hotel in Manali.

 

Day 02:  MANALI TO SARCHU VIA ATAL TUNNEL  – DISTANCE: 230 KM/ 9/ 10 HOURS / 10,500 FEET)      

 

Our tour will start from Manali and will head towards Sarchu. It is a distance of around 600 km but we halt in Sarchu for a night. It will take around 8-9 hours to reach Sarchu. Enroute you will see:

     

 

On arrived Sarchu by the evening, check in your camps & enjoy overnight stay with dinner. 

        

Day 03: SARCHU – LEH DISTANCE: 240 KM/ 7/ 8 HOURS / 10,500 FEET)  

 

In the morning, check-out from the camps and head to Leh. Start driving along the Bhaga River and pass Baralacha La and the serene Suraj Tal on the way. Over 16000 feet, Baralacha La is one of the highest passes in India. Suraj Tal lies just before the pass and one sight of this alpine lake will make you feel a lot closer to nature. During this journey, you will also pass the incredible Gata Loops, a series of 21 hairpin bends that appear just one after the other. Only the strong hearted can drive here, and now is your chance to do so. These zig-zag turns lead to Nakee La, another high mountain pass, on Leh-Manali Highway. Later, after passing Lachalung La, Pang and Tanglang La, arrive in Leh.

 

A high-desert city, Leh is a land of Buddhist culture and adventure. The biggest attraction of this place is the 17th-century Leh Palace, built by King Sengge Namgyal as the royal residence.

On reaching Leh, check-in at the hotel and rest for the night.

 

Day 04: LEH ACCLIMATIZATION DAY IN LEH & EXPLORE LEH:

 

On this day after breakfast, explore Leh town 7 surrounding places  you can use this day to learn about the local culture and heritage. There are a number of tourist attractions that you can explore. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, and then head out to Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace,Thiksey Gompa and Stok Palace.

 

Sangam Valley is a 48 kilometre drive from Leh and is the confluence of the rivers Indus and Zanskar. Just the view of Sangam Valley from the road above it can make you swoon in ecstasy. The colours of the two rivers can be distinctly seen at the confluence. It is an amazing place to sit, relax, and enjoy a picnic with family and friends.  On the way witness Magnetic Hill, the Hill continues to baffle tourists till today. So called because of the strong magnetic force that pulls cars up even when the ignition is turned off, a car drive up the magnetic hill is well worth the gravity defying experience.

 

Today is also a great opportunity for you to explore the local market and buy souvenirs of this journey. Go for authentic pashmina shawls and exquisite handicrafts like Buddhist masks and prayer wheels.

After sightseeing and shopping, retreat to the hotel and sleep through the night.

                                     

Day 05: LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA PASS & HUNDER: DISTANCE : 180 KM| -7 HOURS 

 

Start driving towards Nubra Valley (Hunder village). En-route, pass one of the highest mountain passes in the world, Khardung La. From an altitude of over 17500 feet, you can capture panoramic vistas of the Ladakhi landscape.

Nubra Valley is locally referred to as Ldumra, meaning the Valley of Flowers. Standing where the Shyok and Siachen Rivers meet, the valley lies to the south of the Siachen Glacier and separates Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The locals are believed to be the descendants of Greek tribal people, who came here looking for the tomb of Jesus Christ. Continue driving towards Hunder village, which is an oasis amidst the cold desert of the valley. On reaching Hunder, transfer to the campsite and rest & later on visit for camel ride on the golden sand dunes of Nubra. The highlight of this village is the double-humped Bactrian camels.

In night spend time with star gazing & enjoy your stay at camps.                        

 

Day 06: NUBRA VALLEY (HUNDER) TO PANGONG VIA SHAYOK VALLEY : DISTANCE : 165  KM| 6-7 HOURS |10,000 FEET :

 

In the morning, visit the famous Diskit Monastery – one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Nubra Valley. Following the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, this 14th century Gompa offers astonishing views of the valley and boasts amazing frescos and murals

Shayok valley is one of the unseen valley with landscapes and never taking off your eyes from the river view sight while you drive to Pangong Lake. You can spend some time around the huge blue lake appearing 30% total size of the lake in India and 70% of its portion is covered in China.

End this exciting day with a comfortable sleep at the camps.

 

Day 07: PANGONG TSO – LEH (145 KM| 5-6 HOURS:

 

Start your day early when the surroundings of the lake look even more beautiful. If you want, you can click some photographs here. Later on, start driving towards Leh. Enroute visit Shey Monastery, the Shey Monastery or Gompa and the Shey Palace complex are structures located on a hillock in Shey, 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) to the south of Leh in Ladakh, northern India on the Leh-Manali road. Shey was the summer capital of Ladakh in the past. 

Start your drive toward Leh. Enroute visit: 

Thiksey monastery,  the monastery is located at an altitude of 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) in the Indus Valley. It is a twelve-storey complex and houses many items of Buddhist art such as stupas, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and swords. One of the main points of interest is the Maitreya Temple installed to commemorate the visit of the 14th Dalai Lama to this monastery in 1970; it contains a 15 metres (49 ft) high statue of Maitreya, the largest such statue in Ladakh, covering two stories of the building.

Hemis Monastery is a Himalayan Buddhist monastery (gompa) of the Drukpa Lineage, in HemisLadakhIndia. Situated 45 km from Leh, the monastery was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The annual Hemis festival honouring Padmasambhava is held in early June.

Day 08:  LEH – TSOMORRIRI (145 KM| 5-6 HOURS:

On this day after breakfast, check out from hotel, start driving towards Tsomo-riri Lake        (alt: 15,000 ft.) driving through Chumathang (hot springs), Mahe and Puga Sumdo. This picturesque and deep blue lake situated at an altitude of 4530m is surrounded by barren mountains and towering snowcapped peaks over 6000m such as ChamserLungser and Mentok Kangri. The lake winds through the Rupshu valley, it is 26 km in length and about 5 km in breadth. Many animals can be found around the lake including marmots, blue sheep, kiang (wild ass), rare Tibetan wolves and migratory birds.

It is located in the Korzok village, on the northwestern bank of Tso Moriri in Leh District, Ladakh, India. The gompa, at 4,560 metres, houses a Shakyamuni Buddha and other statues. It is home to about 70 monks.

Day 09:  TSO MORIRI -TSO KAR – MOORE PLAIN – SARCHU (145 KM| 5-6 HOURS | 11500 feet 

 

In the morning, check-out from the camps & start your drive toward Sarchu.

 Enroute visit The Tso Kar or Tsho kar, known for its size and depth, is a fluctuating salt lake situated in the Rupshu Plateau and valley in the southern part of Ladakh in India. More plains is a plateau on the Leh–Manali Highway. It occupies 40 km of the highway between Leh and Sarchu. The plateau has an average elevation of 4,800 metres. The road is flanked by beautiful mountains on both sides.

On arrived Sarchu check in your camps & enjoy overnight stay at camps with dinner. 



Day 10:  SARCHU – BARALACH LA – KEYLONG – MANALI:

 

After the breakfast drive toward Manali, Start driving along the Bhaga River and pass Baralacha La and the serene Suraj Tal on the way. Over 16000 feet, Baralacha La is one of the highest passes in India. Suraj Tal lies just before the pass and one sight of this alpine lake will make you feel a lot closer to nature.

On arrived manali that day, check in your hotel & enjoy overnight stay at hotel with dinner. 

 

Day 11:  MANALI – DELHI: BY VOLVO( AN OVERNIGHT JOURNEY )

This day after breakfast, check out from hotel around 12 noon & explore local market on your own. In evening around 4:30 pm board your volvo from Manali private bus stop to Delhi. By next morning you will reach Delhi.
