Himachal literally means ‘ The lap of Himalaya or The Land of snowy mountains’ The state of Himachal Pradesh is placed within the mountain chain of the Himalayas, bounded in the north by Tibet, North West by the state of Jammu & Kashmir, its south lie the plains of the Punjab and the east is bounded by the Garhwal Himalaya.

Travel to western Himalayan region is rated as Adventure Travel. These adventures require plenty of stamina and perseverance. The distance covered is long, with a height of over 2500 m – 4000 m & above which means you must be completely fit and sure-footed and free from vertigo. It is best to give some time to your body to adjust to the height as well as to the changes in your eating and sleeping habits. Your heart and blood pressure must be normal and we suggest you consult your doctor and have a thorough physical checkup before you undertake these safaris.

High Mountain Lakes Visit

This tour which takes one across to the Himalayan region of Himachal over high mountain passes to the high altitude lakes providing beautiful views of mountain ranges, glaciers, waterfalls, gurgling rivers and an experience to cherish ever after. You also get to stay in tents for 2 nights.

Operational period:  June to September
Physical requirement:  Pax should be physically fit enough to walk for 4 – 5 hours/ 11 kms.

Day 01: Arrive Chandigarh / Manali (300 kms/ 8 hrs)

Chandertal Lake: 3 Nights

Itinerary

 

Day 01: Manali – Rohtang Pass – Chandertal
Morning drive from Manali to Chandertal. Crossing overs the Rohtang pass (3987 mt). Arrive at Chandertal and Overnight stay at the fixed camp site.

Day 02: Chandertal Lake
After breakfast explore the surroundings. One can go for a hike or chill out near by lake, trek towards Kunzum-la Pass can be considered as another option for that day. Dinner and overnight stay in tents. As discussed we will camp near the Chandertal lake (after checking all the possibilities).

Day 03: Short hike
After breakfast, can proceed towards Baralacha route with the packed lunch. Return to the camp in the evening.

Day 04: Chandertal – Manali
Morning follow the trail through the fertile plateau and descending down steeply. Later arrive at the Chandra river gorge and then trek along the dusty road leading up to Batal. Cross over the Batal bridge and drive to Manali in 5-6 hours crossing over the Rohtang pass (3987 mt). Arrival Manali in the evening.

Operational period: 1st June to 15th September

Day 01: Arrival Manali (own arrangement)
Arrive Manali on own and check in at hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: In Manali
Morning half day tour visiting Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery (closed on Mondays) and few old temples in Naggar village. Afternoon half day city tour visiting Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Tibetan Monastery and Vashisht Village. Evening free to explore Manali market. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Manali/ Kunzam Pass/ Kaza (202 Kms)
Travel by surface from Manali to Kaza over Rohtang Pass (3980 m) & Kunzum Pass (4558 m). Enroute also drive past some villages of Spiti valley like Losar, Hal and Rangrik. On arrival in Kaza check in at guest house. Overnight at guest house.

Day 04: In Kaza
Morning visit the Ki monastery, 12 kms from Kaza. This centuries – old gompa is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors – and at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Also visit the small gompa at Kibber, 9 kms further ahead. Kibber at 4205 m has the distinction of being the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. Overnight at guest house.

Day 05: Kaza / Pin Valley / Tabo
Travel from Kaza to Pin Valley, the land of Ibex and Snow Leopards. Visit Kungri monastery at Pin Valley. Continue drive to Tabo. Visit Tabo monastery. Founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images  – and is often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”.

The largest monastic complex in Spiti, the old section has 9 temples, 23 chortens, a monks chamber and a nuns chamber. There are several caves adorned with frescoes and contemporary structures too. In Trans Himalayan Buddhism, Tabo’s sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing gompa. Overnight at guest house.

Day 06: Tabo/ Dhankar /Kaza
Travel from Tabo to Dhankar gompa. This gompa rests high over the valley and is a stupendous example of local architecture. It is regarded to have once been a fort and was also the residence of the ruler of Spiti – the Nono. Also visit the Lalung Gompa. Continue travel onwards to Kaza. Overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Kaza / Manali (202 kms)
Travel back from Kaza to Manali enroute crossing over Kunzam Pass providing beautiful views of CB ranges and Rohtang Pass. On arrival check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Depart Manali (own arrangement)
Check out of hotel. Later depart Manali on own for onward destination. End of tour & our services.

Manali-Spiti – Kinnaur & Shimla

Operational period: May to  September”

Day 01: Manali/ Kaza (200 kms/ 10 – 12 hrs)
Travel by jeep from Manali to Kaza over the Rohtang Pass (3980 m) and Kunzam Pass (4558 m) enroute crossing Spitian villages like Losar, Hal and Rangrik. On arrival check in at Kaza Retreat or similar guest house. Overnight at guest house.

Day 02: In Kaza

Day 04: Tabo/ Nako/ Kalpa (195 kms/ 8- 9 hrs)
Travel by surface from Tabo to Nako which is located by the banks of lake. Visit the monastery and walk around Village. Later continue drive enroute viewing confluence of Sutlej & Spiti Rivers at Khab. Kalpa village is located in backdrop of Kinner Kailash mountain range. On arrival check in at hotel. Rest of day free to explore Kalpa village. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Kalpa/ Sangla (51 kms/ 2 hrs)
Travel by surface from Kalpa to Sangla enroute visiting Kamru Fort & village. On arrival in Sangla set up camp. Overnight in tents at Sangla.

Day 06: In Sangla
In picturesque settings and with interesting architecture, visit the village of Chitkul. Overnight in tents at Sangla.

Day 07: Sangla/ Sarahan (92 kms/ 4 hrs)
Travel from Sangla to Sarahan by jeep. On arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon visit the famous Bhimakali temple, regarded as one of the Shaktipeeths. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Sarahan/ Shimla (184 kms/ 6 hrs)
Travel from Sarahan to Shimla enroute visiting the hill resorts of Narkanda and Kufri. Arrive Shimla by evening. End of tour & our services.

Day 01: Arrival Leh
Meet on arrival Leh airport and transferred to the Hotel. Check in to the hotel for a complete day of rest wherein welcome tea and coffee will be served by the Hotel. Afternoon visit Leh Market, Leh Palace, Shankar Gompa and Shanti Stupa. Overnight Hotel.

DAY 02: Leh/ Uleytopko (70 kms/ 8 hrs)
After Breakfast drive to Uletokpo enroute visiting the famous Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, the Magnetic Hill and Hall of Fame, Basgo Palace, Liker and Alchi monasteries. Also walk around the village and drive to Uletokpo. Overnight in camp.

Day 03: Uletopko/ Lamayuru/ Leh (170 kms/ 8 hrs)
After breakfast, checkout from the camp and drive to Lamayuru monastery. Lamayuru monastery is one of the oldest and spectacularly set founded in 10th century. Afternoon drive back to Leh. On arrival check in and overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Leh/ Pangong Lake (160 Kms)
After Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake (14,500 ft), through Changla Pass 17,350 ft., it is the third highest motorable road in the world. 1200 hrs.  Arrive Pangong, it is the highest salt water Lake in the World, shared by two countries India & China. Enjoy the beauty of the lake on the Banks of Pangong while appreciating the changing Colors and fascinating high altitude of the Lake. Overnight Camp.

Day 05: Pangong Lake/ Leh (160 Kms)

After Breakfast drive back to Leh, enroute visit Hemis, Thikse Monastery and Shey Palace. Overnight Hotel.

Day 06: Leh/ Khardong La/ Leh (78 Kms)
Drive for Khardongla Pass, World’s highest motorable road at 18380 feet. Return Leh in the afternoon. Afternoon & Evening one is free to explore the local markets at your disposal. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Day 07: Departure Leh

Morning in time transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi. End of tour.

Travel by surface from Sarchu to Leh over Lachang La (5065 m) and Tanglang La (5360 m). On arrival check-in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: In Leh – (Monastery Tours)
After breakfast drive for full day sight seeing of Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monastery and Stok Palace Museum. Return to Leh in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06: Leh/ Khardong La/ Leh (78 Kms) 0800 Hrs

Drive for Khardongla Pass, World’s highest motorable road at 18380 feet. Return Leh in the afternoon. Afternoon & Evening one is free to explore the local markets at your disposal. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Morning after breakfast travel by surface from Sarchu to Tsomoriri enroute visiting a small Tsokhar Lake and later drive continue to Tsomoriri. On arrival check in at camp. Overnight in camp.
 
Day 03: Tsomoriri/ Leh (240 kms/ 8 – 9hrs)
Morning visit Tsomoriri Lake, walk around the beautiful lake, visit Karzok village on banks of the lake and the village monastery later travel by surface to Leh. On arrival check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 04: In Leh  – (Monastery Tours)
After breakfast drive for full day sight seeing of Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monastery and Stok Palace Museum. Return to Leh in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Leh/ Hundur (120 kms/ 6 hrs)
Travel by surface to Deskit in Nubra valley over Khardong La pass 5600 m. above the sea level. Visit Deskit village and monastery. Later drive onwards to Hundur village where we check in at camp. Evening free to walk around Hundur village and visit sand dunes where Bacterian camel ride can be enjoyed at an extra cost. Overnight at camp.

Day 06: Hunder/ Panamik/ Samastaling/ Leh (170 kms/ fullday)
Travel by surface from Hunder to Leh enroute visiting hot springs at Panamik and Samastaling monastery.  Later drive back to Leh/. On arrival check in and overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Depart Leh

Morning in time transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi. End of tour.

Manali-Sarchu-Tsokhar-Tsomoriri–Uleytokpo-Pangong-Leh’ (8 Days 7 Nights)
